Light quality is excellent and shadow suppression is genuinely useful. The arm needs occasional retensioning to stop it creeping during longer cases.

The OpticsMED LED700 is the larger-bead-count sibling of the LED500 — 80 OSRAM LED beads instead of 48, raising the peak illumination from 160 000 Lx to 180 000 Lx and supporting the deeper, longer-working-distance light columns that some surgical-microscope-attached procedures need. Same individually replaceable bead design as the LED500.

The larger head throws a bright, uniform pool of light with no distracting shadows, which is ideal for lid and lacrimal procedures. Brightness adjustment is smooth and the colour temperature is easy on the eye.
