Clinical overview

Product overview

The OpticsMED Retinoscopy Board lens set replaces the slow swap-in/swap-out workflow of a trial-lens case during retinoscopy. Eight plastic racks hold the working sphere series; the examiner sweeps the rack in front of the patient's eye while watching the reflex, locking neutralisation in seconds. The wooden case keeps the racks aligned and the lenses scratch-free between visits.

Key features

  • 8-rack format covering the working ranges most retinoscopists need
  • Plastic rack body — light enough for one-handed sweeping over an active paediatric patient
  • Wooden carry case with foam cradles for each rack
  • Compatible with conventional streak-retinoscopes and modern LED retinoscopes

Built for

Paediatric optometry clinics, school-screening teams and refraction training programmes that need to neutralise a reflex quickly on an uncooperative patient. Also useful as the backup retinoscopy kit for any general optometry room where the main trial set lives at the slit lamp.

Practical and accurate

Reliable for objective refraction where a phoropter is impractical, and light enough to carry on domiciliary visits. A dependable everyday set.

Dr. Callum Frostick, MDVerified buyerFeb 19, 2026

Handy for teaching retinoscopy

The loose board lenses are ideal for demonstrating neutralisation to trainees and for quick over-refraction at the bedside. Powers are accurately marked and the optics are clean.

Dr. Gerald Ashcombe, MDVerified buyerJul 6, 2024

Well-made trial set

A useful spread of sphere and cylinder powers for retinoscopy and trial-frame refraction. The lenses are well finished with clear engravings and hold up to regular handling.
