Clinical overview

Product overview

The OpticsMED SW-2100 is the vitreoretinal-focused A/B scan. Three dedicated B-scan modes (normal, vitreous-body enhancement, retina observation) target the specific imaging needs of intraocular pathology — vitreous opacity, retinal detachment, fundus tumour. The combination of A-scan IOL biometry plus disease-specific B-scan modes makes the SW-2100 the right pick for a retinal practice doing surgical pre-op work.

Key features

  • Three B-scan modes: normal, vitreous enhancement, retina observation
  • A-scan: 10 MHz mini-probe with LED
  • A-scan precision +0.05 mm
  • Six IOL formulas
  • Statistical calc: average + standard deviation
  • B-scan: 10 MHz, magnetic-driven, noiseless, 53° sector
  • B-scan resolution: lateral ≤ 0.4 mm, vertical ≤ 0.2 mm
  • 60 mm depth, 30–105 dB gain
  • 256-level greyscale + multi-pseudo-colour
  • Multi-curve image post-processing
  • 100-image cine review
  • AVI / ZIP / JPG output
  • Display modes: B, B+B, B+A, A
  • Windows XP/Vista/7 workstation platform

Clear A and B imaging

The B-scan resolution is good enough to characterise posterior segment pathology in eyes with dense media, and the A-scan biometry gives consistent axial lengths for IOL planning. Probe handling is comfortable.

Dr. Katherine Boyle, MD, FRCOphthVerified buyerOct 29, 2025

Good value diagnostic scanner

Reproducible axial length readings and workable B-scan images for a unit at this level. The software is straightforward to learn.

Dr. Ingrid Sørensen, MDVerified buyerJul 6, 2024

Handy dual-mode unit

Switching between A and B modes is quick and the gain controls are intuitive. Image capture and measurement calipers are reliable for documentation.
